Radar FAQs
Does the system require a smartphone?
No. TeraSilIC safety systems can operate independently through the bike’s display, HMI, or a dedicated alert interface. A companion app can support ride history, analytics, or additional settings, but core safety functions do not need a phone.
Will alerts distract riders?
No. The system is designed for low cognitive load. Alerts can be delivered through subtle visual, audio, or haptic cues, helping riders understand meaningful safety events without overwhelming the riding experience.
Does radar work in rain and at night?
Yes. 24GHz mmWave radar is designed to perform reliably in darkness, rain, fog, dust, and other challenging visibility conditions. This makes it a strong complement to camera-based systems, which can degrade when light or visibility is limited.
How is TeraSilIC different from Garmin Varia?
Garmin Varia is a consumer accessory. TeraSilIC is an OEM sensing and safety technology partner. Our systems are designed for integration into bicycles, e-bikes, displays, CAN Bus architecture, HMI, and broader vehicle-level safety logic.
Can manufacturers integrate only part of the technology?
Yes. TeraSilIC supports flexible integration models. Partners can work with us at the chipset, algorithm, radar module, subsystem, or complete solution level depending on their product roadmap and internal engineering capabilities.
